The Turing Test is a test used to show whether or not a computer program is intelligent enough to pass as a human. If you click on the link above you'll come to the Wikipedia entry on it.
(My favorite part of that entry is this:
"It proceeds as follows: a human judge engages in a natural language conversation with one human and one machine, each of which tries to appear human."[My italics].
I like that the human has to try to appear human- and can't seem to do it naturally).
Anyway- there was an article in the Economist a couple days ago about a new type of AI. Instead of making computer opponents smarter- now people are trying to make them more human= prone to mistakes. It is an interesting article- here is a link:
A new Turing test: Fighting it out
Also if you google Turing Test and click on images you get some silly cartoons.
